This is a 1971 European Mangusta model.

Color = Azure

Overall this Mangusta is presentable, but significant corrosion is noticeable in the rear and there are signs of use throughout the car in all areas. It would be an ideal restoration candidate as much of the body will require attention.

Paintwork: The car has been painted back to its original color, however the paint has many imperfections. There are visible drips in the paint work around the car and it looks as though there are dirt spots in it as well. There are significant cracks in the paint on both sides of the engine cover.

Interior: The interior shows signs of use, but overall is in presentable condition. The seats are worn but undamaged, the vinyl door panels show some fading but are also presentable, the leather on the steering wheel has shrinkage, the gauges are in nice condition, and the top part of the dash is covered in fabric. The interior fans, turn signals, and brake lights work but the electric windows do not.

Rust/Corrosion: Significant amounts of rust are noticeable on both sides of the rear engine cover under the paint. The paint is starting to bubble in these areas and is cracking off in places. There are signs of body filler on the rear engine covers and it is starting to crack off in places. Fortunately, most of the rust and body filler appears to be limited to the engine covers. The other body panels appear solid but there are a few small bubbles underneath the paint in some areas.

Panel Fit: The panel fit on the car is not even and both doors are not completely flush with the bodywork. The passenger side engine cover is not flush with the body panels.

Glass: All of the glass is undamaged except for the windshield, which has a large crack in it and will require replacement.

Wheels/Tires: The wheels look as though they have recently been refinished but there is light curb rash on some of them. The original tires look useable and have significant amounts of tread left on them.

Engine/Bay: The engine and bay show signs of use and has not been detailed. It appears factory correct and the spare tire is in place.

Underbody/Chassis: The underbody of the car has significant amounts of rust, and some of the floor panels will need replacement. A thick undercoating is also noticeable.

Mechanical: This Mangusta was not taken on a test drive, but it does start up and idle well.

Burbank auction

According to the owner, this car was originally purchased in Italy and was then sold to an owner in Germany who painted it white. The current owner purchased it from the German owner in 1985 and repainted it back to its original color of Metallic Blue. The engine has only been used about 100 hours since a full re-build. I do not know how extensive the corrosion is, what numbers match and what do not, or if the glass is damaged.
