The Mangusta was originally built specifically for William (Bill) L. Mitchell VP of Design at General Motors. A 327 Chevrolet engine was sent to DeTomaso and installed. When the car arrived Mr. Mitchell realized he could not fit comfortably in the car, and was outraged. He ordered the car sold. Dick Ruzzin, a GM employee purchased the rare car in 1968, and has enjoyed it ever since. It still is “Chevy Powered” note the emblem photos.
