Here’s a little story on the Mangusta:  I bought the car sight unseen back in Aug. of ’94 from the Auto Toy Store in Florida.  It had just been “restored”!  So, when I received shipment, the car, needless to say, would barely run and the bondo so thick you could have repaired 7 cars.
I took the car to Bobileff in San Diego and we agreed on a bare metal down-to-the-nuts restoration.  Once he got into the body work he found some rusted panels (surprise).  They welded in new panels, bead blasted the body, everything imaginable.   We were trying to enter the car for Pebble Beach, but it did not get accepted that year.  Then the work stopped.  Bobileff had been paid, so he wasn’t in a hurry to finish.  We spent the next 10 years going back and forth trying to get the car completed, but he always pushed other projects in front.  Once Erik Rathmann came on board at Bobileff, the work finally commenced again.  It was finished in summer 2005, but had a terrible overheating problem.  It went back to Bobileff for a few more months, but the problem wasn’t solved.  We took the car to show at Concorso Italiano where it continued to overheat and when we brought it back to Bobileff he was finally able to find the problem.  so, that is the main reason for the low mileage.  I have only driven it a handful of times.  But, it is strikingly beautiful.  I had always wanted to find a place in my house to park it and a Miura.  The only other thing you would really need is a coffee pot and a shower!
