The 1969 Detomaso Mangusta was built by the late and renowned Alejandro Detomaso. The four head light 1969 Detomaso Mangusta is fitted with Ford 302 V8 engine as all were destined for the North American market. The Mangusta’s robust V8 mid-mounted in an exotic italian body produce a stunning 306 horsepower (228 kW). Tires meet the pavement through a 5 speed ZF transaxle. This beautiful design by Giorgetto Giugiaro is easily recognized by its gull wing doors over the engine and luggage compartment. Disc brakes were fitted at all four corners. Top speed has been claimed to eclipse 160 mph. The word “Mangusta” is Italian for “Mongoose”, an animal that eats cobras. The car was so named because De Tomaso had been promised engines from Ford that instead were installed in its rival the Shelby Cobra.
There are to fewer than 200 remaining in existence of approximately 400 built.

This particular car came out of a Kentucky Car Museum in the 90’s and has been kept as such in a controlled environment except for some occasional driving. This particular car has been part of my private collection for a long time and as such due to space and family issues it must go.

This stunning red exotic is attracts a crowd where ever it goes. The interior is beautiful as is the chassis and engine compartment. This car is mechanically sound and lacks little if anything in detail
